BOY are we happy! Well on Monday June 23 we got up waaayyy before the sun and made our way to the hospital and began all of the fun pre-op stuff. Scott and Grannie hung with me through it all, though at one point as Scott turned a bit green we thought we might lose him:) Needles and blood are not his thing! Scott was able to join me in the operating room after they got me all prepped and they had just begun the "getting baby out" process. Before I knew it I heard the most beautiful blood curling scream a momma could hope for! And then came the shouts of "It's a boy! A BIG boy!"...that's when tears of joy ran quite freely. Scott was able to get some amazing pics (we won't show ALL of them to you), and was able to be with our Benjamin Forrest from then on. While they stitched me up we waited for a call from the nursery to let us know how big this boy was and then the phone rang. So before the attending Dr. told us, we all had to take our guess...no one guessed that I, 5 foot nothing was capable of carrying an 8 pound 9 oz. baby! We all just laughed! Me and my 10 new friends all clothed in scrubs.

What a blessing to have a healthy boy! I was so excited for Lilly to come up to the hospital and meet this baby she's been talking about. She was excited but unsure, curious about what everything in the room was and why now that the baby came out we were not all going home. We were so thankful for Grannie being here with us, she kept Lilly busy and happy until we were able to come home on Wed. Since being home we have been spoiled beyond belief! Grannie is still here, along with a now Great Great Unlce Lee and Aunt Phyllis and they have totally taken over the kitchen, laundry, yard work, Lilly and even Scott and I...along with baby holding duties of course! We have felt so loved on and able to really rest and recover this week.
So...Ben, our not so little Ben, is such a joy! He's been super content, is a champion eater...every 2-3 hours I might add:), and we just cannot believe he is here! He is so curious and looks around with wide eyes and has even shared several smiles with us. He had a checkup yesterday and is already back to birth weight and has a clean bill of health. The Dr. is interested to see how much he weighs in 2 weeks considering he accomplished the birth weight goal in only 2 days. He has the longest feet I have ever seen on a baby but I still have nightmares about those very feet kicking my insides! Babies are such a miracle and I'm just trying to treasure every minute of these new born days because I know they are gone before you know it. So even those 3 am feedings hold a special place because they are so temporal.
Well that's it for now from the Momma point of view...thank you for all of your phone calls, e-mails and encouragement over the past week! Anne
